Davidson County Sheriff Daron Hall Backs Wiltshire for Mayor
Endorsement Underscores Continued Momentum for Wiltshire
NASHVILLE, TN – Today, Davidson County’s Democratic Sheriff, Daron Hall, announced his endorsement of Matt Wiltshire for Mayor of Nashville. Sheriff Hall was re-elected to a 6th term in 2022. He designed and implemented the first-of-its-kind Behavioral Care Center, a diversion program aimed at decriminalizing mental illness. Sheriff Hall is a national leader and is the only Tennessee sheriff to serve as president of the National Sheriffs’ Association.
Sheriff Hall joins the Fraternal Order of Police and a coalition of 16 current and former Metro Council members who’ve endorsed Matt Wiltshire.
“I’m excited to support Matt Wiltshire for Mayor,” said Sheriff Daron Hall. “As I have often said, executive experience is critical in this job, and Matt Wiltshire has the right experience and ideas to tackle our city’s most pressing challenges. Matt also believes, like I do, that we must stop criminalizing mental illness and invest in the services that our most vulnerable residents need.”
“I’m honored to have Sheriff Hall’s endorsement,” said Matt Wiltshire. “He is one of the nation’s most forward looking leaders on how we prevent crime and end the cycle of repeat offensives. Sheriff Hall and his team have been smart and innovative on how to deal with the mental health challenges of so many that end up in the criminal justice system.”
